The statute above requires the Department of Health and Senior Services to maintain a registry of data on genetic diseases. More specifically, the data must facilitate the compiling of information related to the causes, treatment, prevention and cure of genetic disease. All identifying information contained in the data must remain confidential. The information in the registry will be reported to the Missouri Board of Health and other health care agencies for use in the treatment and prevention of genetic diseases and birth defects.
