The Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) is responsible for developing and maintaining a community-based health information network to facilitate communication of patient clinical and financial information to promote more efficient and effective communication among multiple health care providers. This network aims to create efficiencies in health care costs by eliminating redundancy in data capture and storage and reducing administrative, billing and data collection costs and create the ability to monitor community health status. The community-based health information network will provide reliable information to health care consumers and purchasers regarding the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care, health plans and health care providers. The Delaware Health Information Network must annually file a report to the Governor and the state legislature on its operations and transactions.
