Physician profiles – Public access to data - R.I. Gen. Laws Ann. § 5-37.9-2
This will open in a new window
The Rhode Island board of medical licensure and discipline (“board”) must publish profiles for each licensed physician as a means of assisting consumers in selecting a physician. The profiles must contain information on the physician’s education, practice history, disciplinary history, malpractice history, felony convictions, and various professional accomplishments (e.g. academic appointments, teaching responsibilities, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and receipt of service awards). Physicians may elect to have these professional accomplishments omitted from their profile. Physicians must have an opportunity to review their profile 21 days before publication and may dispute the accuracy of profile information. Failure to resolve a dispute within 30 days will result in publication of the profile with a statement noting that specified information is in dispute.
