The statute above requires hospitals designated as trauma, STEMI or stroke centers to provide for a peer review system approved by the Department of Health and Senior Services. Failure of the hospital to provide medical records necessary to implement the peer review system will result in revocation of the hospital’s designation as a trauma, STEMI or stroke center. The Department and peer review committee will use all medical records provided for the peer review system for peer review purposes only and may not release the names of hospitals, physicians and patients.
