Maine has passed authorizing legislation to allow for the establishment of Accountable Care Organizations, as defined by the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Maine’s law gives the Insurance Superintendant authority to oversee payment reform projects, allowing health insurers and providers to work together to reduce health care costs and improve care quality.
