All providers participating in Medicaid must comply with HIPAA. Additionally, providers are required to release confidential medical information to state or federal entities when the agency is involved in Medicaid, the information is used to verify eligibility, and the agency has the actual consent of the recipient.
The information that must be provided to state or federal entities include the name and address of all individuals with a financial or controlling interest in the provider group.
