All identifying information about cases of cancer or benign tumors that is required to be reported must be kept confidential. Any additional information that is used for a special study must also be kept confidential. However, the law permits the Oregon Health Authority to publish statistics regarding morbidity and mortality of cancer or benign tumors as long as the data does not identify individual patients and is not used by third parties to conduct research.
