N.Y. Pub. Health Law § 2571 - Examination of Children Upon Admission to Children's Institutions

This law requires that the administrative officers in charge of admission of children into children’s institutions inquire into whether a child being admitted has been exposed to communicable disease before permitting the child into contact with the other children in the institution.  If the officer finds that there is a reason to suspect exposure to communicable disease, the child is required to be kept away from other children until a physician says otherwise.  The law requires that a thorough medical examination be performed on all children either prior to admission or soon after.  The law further requires that all records of such inquiries and examinations are to be maintained on file at the institution.
