This regulation requires that every person admitted to a mental health facility be informed about the character and class of facility at the time of admission by an appropriate staff member. Further each patient is required to be given notice of his or her rights at the time of admission, and those patients who are unable to read the written notice of their status and rights have the right to have their rights read and explained to them in an appropriate language by a staff member. Facility staff members are required to periodically notify patients about their status and rights, and to also notify them upon their request.
