This regulation requires that blood banks and institutions using the product to keep complete and accurate records of blood, blood components and derivatives released for transfusion for 7 years or 6 months after expiration date, whichever is later. The regulation states that these records will be open to inspection by the department of health and are required to include information specified in sections 58-2.11 and 58-2.12 of this subpart. The regulation prohibits disclosure of a donor’s identifying information to any person except with written consent of donor or when the information is disclosed to the department of health and other agencies which issue blood bank permits to the facility.
