This regulation requires that all documents containing personal health-related information be disposed in a way that ensures confidentiality. The regulation makes the supervisors of units responsible for the documents until they are destroyed or the control is transferred to a disposal service. With respect to records meant for long-term storage by the Department of Education, the regulation requires that they be handled according to the inter-agency records disposition document for security while they are being stored and during their transfer to the archives or for destruction.
