Notifiable conditions
The New Mexico Department of Health must maintain a list of notifiable conditions that must be reported through a 24-hour telephone number, to a disease specific address, a written report, or electronic transmission. The list of notifiable conditions is available at N.M. Admin. Code 7.4.3.12.
Health care providers who treat an individual that has or is suspected of having a notifiable condition must report the disease. Laboratories that receive a positive test for a notifiable condition must also report all positive findings, along with the individual’s name, address, date of birth, disease/condition, and physician. Other people who have knowledge of a person with or suspected to have a notifiable condition must also report the individual.
