“Standards of conduct under the board of registration in optometry regulations”
Optometrists must refrain from revealing patients’ information unless a patient consents to the release of the information or the release was ordered by a court or other official body with authority to acquire the information.
An optometrist must maintain complete and accurate patient records for a minimum of 7 years. An optometrist must furnish copies of patient records upon the patient’s request within 10 business days.
An optometrist must provide each patient with the highest degree of skill and care. An optometrist must report persons who attempt to practice optometry without a license or violates state laws or regulations pertaining to the practice of optometry.
