“Utilization review under the Division of Human Services regulations”
Quality improvement organizations must evaluate the quality, medical necessity, appropriateness of care, and length of stay determinations for all inpatient hospital services provided to Medicaid recipients. The Department of Health and Human Services must monitor utilization of all outpatient and out-of- state inpatient hospital services provided to Medicaid recipients.
