“Required services under the division of public health services regulations”
Nursing home facilities must provide an admissions packet to a resdient or the resident’s guardian or representative. The admissions packet must include:
- A copy of the patients’ bill of rights;
- A copy of the resident’s right to appeal an involuntary transfer or discharge;
- The nursing home’s policy and procedure for handling reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation;
- Information on access the long-term care ombudsman; and
- Information on advanced directives.
All nursing home facilities must respect the resident’s refusal to accept all care and services. In the event that a resident has to be transferred to another medical facility during an emergency, a nursing home facility must provide information regarding whether the resident has an advance directive.
