Unprofessional Conduct (Code of Ethics)
One provision governing the confidentiality of substance abuse treatment information can be found in the Unprofessional Conduct & Code of Ethics for alcohol and drug counselors portion of the Nebraska regulations. An alcohol and/or drug counselor must maintain the confidentiality of patient communication unless doing so would “result in clear danger to the person or to others.” Violation of Part 2 constitutes unprofessional conduct; disclosure of information without a signed release likewise constitutes unprofessional conduct.
