Health care corporations in Michigan must pursue goals pertaining to access, cost, and quality of health care while entering into reimbursement contracts with providers. These goals include (1) ensuring availability of health services by maintaining a sufficient amount of providers in Michigan; (2) requiring providers to meet health care quality standards; and (3) ensuring that reimbursement rate changes do not exceed inflation and real economic growth rates. The Act does not prohibit health care corporations from pursuing additional goals.
