The law establishes a coordinated trauma care system.  The department also provides by regulation and guideline for the trauma care system to include pre-hospital care management guidelines of pediatric and adult trauma patients, resources and equipment, and a trauma registry collection system. The department is responsible for maintaining the trauma registry reporting and analysis system.  This reporting includes trauma care expenditures, the reporting and analysis of patient, diagnosis, treatment, facility and other reasonably detailed trauma care information by each hospital in the commonwealth.
