All hospitals are required to have a multidisciplinary team that is responsible for implementing and monitoring the infection control program. The infection control program must include ways of preventing, identifying and investigating healthcare associated infections (HAIs), and establishing procedures for collecting data and reporting sentinel events. All hospitals must also develop written policies related to infection control, including a hospital wide hygiene program. Hospitals are also required to implement an educational campaign for hospital staff and patient care personnel. Hospitals must also review their infection control programs annually for quality assessment.
