Ind. Code Ann. § 16-41-9-5 - Detention of and reports on mentally ill or gravely disabled carriers of communicable diseases

This law allows a designated health official who determines that a carrier of a dangerous communicable disease is mentally ill/gravely disabled to request immediate/emergency detention to have the carrier apprehended, detained and examined.  The law further states that the health officer is allowed to share information about the carrier’s communicable disease status with the superintended on the psychiatric hospital or attending physician, and this disclosure will not be considered a breach of confidentiality.
