This law states that a mentally incompetent patient who receives mental health services can provide informed consent in one of the following ways:
- Through patient’s legal guardian or court appointed representative
- Through the patient’s health care representative
- Through an attorney in fact for health care
- Through a health care representative appointed through a properly executed psychiatric advance directive
