Each hospital and freestanding birthing center must conduct a hearing screening on each child born in the hospital or center unless the newborn is transferred to another hospital. The attending physician of each newborn and the department of health must be promptly notified of every screening result. Every hospital, clinic or other health care facility at which a hearing evaluation is performed on a newborn must report the results of the evaluation to the newborn’s attending physician.
