Reporting Requirements
All health facilities (defined as a hospital, community health center or nursing facility) are required to report instances of health care acquired bloodstream infections, central line infection, and surgical site infections to the California State Department of Health. Currently, the Department is required to post on its website, the incidence rate of health care acquired central line associated bloodstream infections and other bloodstream infections at each health facility. Starting in January, 2012, the Department is required to post the incidence rates of surgical site infections at each facility.
