The Health Information System Act controls the data and reports that may be obtained at various access levels. The Commission must process all requests for HIS data, except routine requests. No information that violates a patient’s confidentiality may be released, which applies to all research, clinical, and linking databases. The accuracy of all data stored is not HIS’ responsibility, but is the responsibility of the submitting data provider. If the data provider is a government agency and such data is considered public data, it may be disclosed regardless of other disclosure restrictions.
