An insurance company may not restrict the right of a patient to choose his or her choice of hospital or practitioner within the limits of area and coverage of the insurance policy.
The statute includes: “practitioner of the healing arts or optometrist, psychologist, podiatrist, physician assistant, certified nurse-midwife, registered lay midwife or registered nurse in expanded practice,” with hospitals and practitioners that may be freely chosen.
