“Prescription drug monitoring program under the crimes law”
The Department of Health must establish a comprehensive electronic database system to collect information on controlled substance prescriptions and provides prescription information to a patient’s health care provider and pharmacist. The electronic system must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act’s (HIPAA) requirements regarding protected health information and other federal and state privacy laws.
