“Consumer-directed care program under the Florida Consumer-Directed Care Act”

The Agency for Health Care Administration must establish the consumer-directed care program to enable individuals who are enrolled in Medicaid home and community-based waiver programs to access in-home and community-based care. The purpose of the consumer-directed care program is to reduce the number of people who receive long-term care in institutions. The Agency for Health Care Administration must collaborate with the Departments of Elderly Affairs, Health, and Children and Family Services and the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to administer the program. The program must provide consumers with a monthly budget allowance to pay for home and community-based services that meet his or her long-term care needs.
