“Florida Health Choices Program under the public health law”
The Florida Health Choices Program is established to:
- Provide Floridians opportunities to purchase affordable health insurance coverage;
- Preserve the benefits of employment-sponsored insurance while easing the administrative burden for employers who offer these benefits;
- Enable individual choice in both the manner and mount of health care purchased;
- Provide for the purchase of individual, portable health care coverage;
- Disseminate information to consumers on the price and quality of health services; and
- Sponsor a competitive market that stimulates innovation, quality improvement, and efficiency in the production and delivery in the production and delivery of health services.
The Florida Health Choices Program is a single, centralized market for the sale and purchase of various products including health insurance plans, health maintenance organization plans, prepaid services, service contracts, and flexible spending accounts. The program must serve both employers that are seeking health insurance coverage for their employees and individuals who are seeking health insurance coverage for themselves and their families.
Personal identifying information of an enrollee or applicant in the Florida Health Choices Program is confidential. Personal identifying information may be disclosed to a governmental entity in the performance of its official duties and responsibilities, any person who has the written consent of the enrollee, and the Florida Kidcare program.
