“Civil actions for false claims liability under the civil practice and procedure law”
The Department of Legal Affairs is responsible for investigating an allegation that an individual submitted a false claim. The Department of Financial Services may commence a civil action if there are sufficient evidence from the investigation by the department and the Department of Legal Affairs.
