“Grounds for disciplinary action; action by the board under the regulation of professions and occupations law”
Dentists and dental hygienists may be denied a license or face disciplinary sanctions for a variety of grounds including:
- Failing to report to the Department of Health any health care professional who is violating the law;
- Making a false report or failing to file a report required by state or federal law;
- Engaging in sexual activity with a patient;
- Making deceptive representations in the practice of dentistry;
- Performing professional services that have not been authorized by the patient;
- Improperly dispensing controlled substances;
- Being unable to practice because of illness or substance use; and
- Failing to conform to prevailing standards of care.
