The citizen’s advisory council established at each institution and branch institution under the control of the department of developmental disabilities has the following responsibilities:
- Annually submit a report to the director of the department regarding matters affecting the institution, including allegations of dehumanizing practices and violations of individual or legal rights; and
- Review institutional budgets, programs, services, and planning.
The chairperson of each advisory council, or his designee, must be notified within 24 hours of any alleged incident of abuse to a resident or staff member by anyone.
