Requires a long term care facility’s consulting pharmacist to establish procedures for distributing prescription drugs. These procedures must address prescription storage, 24 hour emergency assistance, and participation in the long-term care patient evaluation program. Requires pharmacists to review practitioner orders and to maintain controlled substance records in compliance with state and federal law. Requires the consulting pharmacist to oversee the creation and maintenance of pharmacy records that include items such as medication administration, adverse drug reactions, and controlled substance reports.
