If the Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline receives a complaint concerning access to patient records as a result of a physician’s physical or mental incapacity or termination of his practice, the Board may appoint a temporary or permanent custodian of the physician’s patient records. The custodian must notify the physician’s patients on how they can access their medical records. The custodian must retain the medical records for 7 years.
