The Department of Insurance must establish the Independent Health Care Appeals Program. The program is responsible for tasking independent utilization review organizations to review final decisions made health insurers during their grievance process. An enrollee may seek a determination by the Independent Health Care Appeals Program within 4 months of a health insurer’s final adverse decision.
