A state early hearing detection and intervention (EHDI) surveillance and tracking system is established to identify children with hearing loss through newborn hearing screening in order to make referrals, render appropriate follow-up care and better establish hearing screening programs, audiological services, and early intervention programs. Hospitals, clinical laboratories, other health care facilities, audiologists, and physicians are not civilly or criminally liable for complying with this statute.
