A physician or any other health care professional must report STDs to the Department of Health and Social Services’ Division of Public Health. A report must contain the patient’s contact and medical information, age, sex, and race.
A clinical or hospital laboratory, blood bank, mobile unit or other facility that conducts a laboratory examination must report any incidents of STDs to the Division of Public Health within 1 business day.
All reports of STDs are confidential. Health care professionals are not liable for disclosing patient information to comply with this statute.
