“Communication of limitations of authorization to recipient of medical information”

 

An individual or entity that discloses medical information based on a patient authorization must inform the receiving individual or entity of any limitations on the use of the medical information. 

No individual or entity that has attempted in good faith to comply with this provision shall be liable for any unauthorized use of the medical information by the individual or entity to which the individual or entity disclosed the medical information.
