Availability of patient information to certain agencies - Conn. Gen. Stat. § 17b-225

The Department of Public Safety, Department of Social Services, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (“Departments”) may access patient information from hospitals and facilities operated by the Department of Public Health, Department of Development Services, and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (“Agencies”) to the extent that the information is necessary to pay for patient care, claim federal reimbursement, or conduct an audit of federally funded programs. The Departments must ensure the confidentiality of such patient information and limit use of the information to the stated purposes.
The Department of Administrative Services may receive patient information from the Agencies as necessary to pay for patient care. The Department must keep such information confidential and limit its use to the stated purpose.
