Pharmacists must obtain parental consent prior to administering a flu shot to a child under the age of 18. Pharmacists must electronically report the administration of flu shots to children between the ages of 9 and 18 to the department of health within 7 days of administering the shot and must provide notice of the shot to the child’s primary care provider, if known, within 14 days. The department of health must establish regulations that require pharmacists to make a good faith effort to obtain the identity of the child’s primary care provider.
