All hospitals that provide cardiac surgeries must provide patient specific surgery outcome data to the Data Analysis Center (a center contracted out by the Department of Public Health) for each patient who has had a cardiac surgery as defined by the Department of Public Health. Hospitals that provide cardiac surgeries must be enrolled in and participate with the STS National Database. Hospitals must also develop and implement procedures that ensure the confidentiality of patient specific data submitted to the Data Analysis Center and the STS Database.
