Provider disclosure of average charge
A hospital must inform a patient or person seeing treatment of the right to receive notice of the average charge for the treatment or procedure being sought (if it is a common inpatient procedure) before admission for that procedure. However, this notice need not be given for emergency treatment or procedures. The hospital must provide the price information to the person upon request before admission.
Other licensed health facilities must give a person seeking treatment the right to receive notice of the average charge for such a frequently performed treatment before ordering or scheduling the procedure, except in emergency situations. The average charge information must be provided when requested, before the procedure is scheduled.
