The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) held their Annual Meeting at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. During the meeting on June 2, 2016, ONC released a series of consumer-oriented videos regarding patients' right to access health information and a patient engagement playbook for providers. The videos, a collaboration between ONC, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), highlight information that an individual needs to know about their rights to access their own health information. The videos included information on HIPAA regulation, acceptable costs and wait times, and the rights of individuals to share their records with a third party.
