On December 8, 2014, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released its Federal Health Information Technology Strategic Plan 2015-2020. The Plan identifies specific goals and strategies for leveraging interoperability to advance health information exchange and improve health and healthcare. The Plan also sets the context for ONC's upcoming Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap, to be released in 2015, which will define how the federal government and the private sector will approach health information sharing. ONC is accepting comment on the Plan until February 6, 2015, which can be submitted here.
