HHS Releases Security Risk Assessment Tool for Providers

The HHS Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and Office for Civil Rights (OCR) jointly released a security risk assessment tool for small to medium sized health care providers.  Conducting a security risk assessment is a key requirement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act's (HIPAA) Security Rule as well as for providers seeking payment through the Meaningful Use Program. The Security Risk Assessment tool provides a systematic tool to help health care practices conduct risk assessments within their organizations.
