On February 29, 2016, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) along with the Obama administration announced that the nation's top developers of health information technology systems have committed to improving interoperability. According to the pledge on HHS' website, (found by clicking here) companies that have pledged provide 90% of electronic health records used by hospitals. The core commitments include: consumer access, improved transparency (no data blocking), and implementation of national interoperability standards.
