Colorado set up its All Payer Claims Database (APCD) on November, 1, 2012. The database is being managed by the Center for Improving Value in Health Care. The APCD currently holds historical claims data from the last three years from the largest commercial payers and Medicaid. Additional payer data and Medicare claims data will be subsequently added. The purpose of the APCD is to provide transparent data to support initiatives that improve health, health care quality and contain costs. The APCD will also allow consumers to perform interactive health care comparisons.
