On March 20, 2015, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the proposed rule for Stage 3 of Meaningful Use. Beginning in 2017, it will be the final stage of meaningful use. It is the hope of CMS that the rule will reduce program complexity; addressing complaints the agency has received regarding stages of reporting periods. The new rule will focus heavily on interoperability and patient engagement. Read the proposed rules here.
