CMS Issues Proposed Rule Revising Medicare Shared Savings Program Regulations

On Monday, December 8, 2014, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published a proposed rule in the Federal Register to revise the Medicare Shared Savings Program (“MSSP”) Accountable Care Organization (“ACO”) Regulations. Among many other changes, the proposed revisions clarify a number of definitions, modify the MSSP financial model to encourge more participation, and expand what beneficiary identifiable information would be available to ACOs. CMS also seeks comment on potential Medicare program requirements related to the MSSP. The comment period is open until February 6, 2015 at 5 pm.
