The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology issued a report in January 2015 outlining a ten-year roadmap for acheiving its goal of shared nationwide interoperability for health IT. The roadmap supports a learning healthcare system and envisions healthcare stakeholders having access to interoperable helath IT services and products that contribute to this system by 2024. The report includes critical actions, key dates, funding and budget specifications, and the fundamental building blocks necessary to acheive its goal.
