Health Information & the Law interviewed Lucia Savage, JD, Chief Privacy Officer for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), as the newest installation to the Perspectives from the Field Interview Series. Savage discusses her role and unique experience in health IT- both as a caregiver for her elderly mother, and also through her professional role with ONC. She speaks about the potential for health technologies to improve health outcomes among the sick, but also speaks to consumer demand and the ways in which health IT will continue to grow to meet the needs of caregivers and patients alike. Her visions align with ONC's Interoperability Roadmap (released in October 2015), uniting commitments and strategies among private and public stakeholders in the health IT sector.
